This course is available as regulated or un-regulated. If you choose the regulated course this is awarded by the FAA as a level 3 qualification valid for 3 years. For those who do not require a formal qualification in first aid, you can choose the un-regulated course. The unregulated course is also valid for 3 years and complies with the latest European Resuscitation Council (ERC) and UK Resuscitation Council Guidelines. Through taking this course, all learners will have the skills and knowledge to provide their organisation with an emergency First Aider that can provide treatment to their casualties in a prompt, safe and effective manner.

Course objectives

By the end of this course those attending should be able to:

• Describe the role and responsibilities of a first aider
• Assess an emergency situation safely
• Provide first aid to an unresponsive casualty
• Place a casualty in the recovery position
• Perform CPR including delivering rescue breaths
• Use an AED
• Provide first aid to a casualty who is choking
• Provide first aid to a casualty with external bleeding
• Provide first aid to a casualty who is in shock
• Provide first aid to a casualty with minor injuries including burns and scalds
