This half-day course is available as a regulated or un-regulated course. If you choose the regulated course this is awarded by the FAA as a level 2 qualification which is valid for 3 years. For those who do not require a formal qualification in first aid, you can choose the un-regulated course. The un-regulated course is valid for one year and complies with the latest European Resuscitation Council (ERC) and UK Resuscitation Council Guidelines. Regardless of whether the course is regulated or not, the course content remains the same.

Course objectives

By the end of this course those attending should be able to:

• Make safety considerations for providing basic life support
• Take precautions in the lead up to providing basic life support
• Conduct an initial assessment
• Place a casualty in the recovery position
• Perform CPR (with and without rescue breaths)
• Handover CPR to someone else
• Use an AED
• Manage a choking casualty
